East London’s exclusive private members club The Curtain plays host to GLo! An energetic club night for the LGBTQIA community.
A party for individuals who are on the pulse of music, fashion, art, and culture! A party for people who abandon stereotypes and don’t feel they are defined by their sexuality!
Invite only! GLo runs on the idea that you invite your gay best friend/s, a bi- curious person or somebody new to the LGBTQIA scene. Ensuring that the crowd is inclusive but exclusive.
As well as a celebration of feel good urban music; GLo is about bringing sexy back! The collective is headed up by DJ Ellie Prohan known for her raw energy sets; she has had a great start to 2018 with notable sets at Boiler room and Lovebox. We can expect her to shell it down at Bestival main stage come August!
‘I have a lot of queer friends who are intimidated about going to scene nights. Says Ellie. ‘They like me; struggle finding an event where they feel comfortable and that reflects their style. The most frustrating thing I’m told is that I don’t look ‘stereotypically’ gay, its a lose lose when wanting to connect with women as well as avoid unwelcome attention from men.’
It got my head ticking, how can I fuse an old skool hip hop night with glamour. Ensuring that the vibe and music is paramount, encouraging people to freely relate. I’ve been sitting on the idea for a while and now it’s time to bring GLo to the London community with the help of some amazing LGBTQI/POC influencers’
The launch at this years London Pride, featured as one of the best alternative nights by Mixmag and welcomed a special live PA from Birmingham rapper Lady Leshurr.
The second in the series from GLo in Shoreditch is the Carnival warm up 24th August - GLo dancers, and incredible DJ lineup hosted by Roxxxan means this is one to catch!
